This course is a follow-on from 'Certificate in Fashion Design Level 2' OR for individuals who have some design experience and wish to progress their technical & design skills in fashion. 

 

The course will help individuals further their understanding of the technical skills of fashion design, with an emphasis on garment construction, moulage technique and a creative fashion runway collection. Graduates get the exclusive opportunity to showcase final pieces on the FAD Talents show during the Arab Fashion Week.

  • Course Description
    The Fashion Design Level 1 course is an introductory level course for individuals wanting to explore a career in design or conceive an initial portfolio of work. The course introduces both skill based & creative development modules with key focus on research, design development process and fashion history. Individuals approach fashion with a global perspective and learn various visual communication techniques and understand how to develop inspirations and mood boards and illustrate using various media. Students also get an overview into the design process from ideation, illustration, draping & pattern making to final collection realization, though some of the modules are taught on the Level 2 course. On successful completion of the course individuals would be able to draw and communicate their ideas exploring silhouette, detail and colour, eventually developing a small capsule collection of designs. Individuals can continue to Certificate in Fashion Design Level 2 to gain further technical skills in Pattern Drafting & Pattern Making and Garment Construction Techniques.
